A soulless musical masterpiece. - 6/10

Before i start talking about Bohemian Rhapsody, I have to emphasize that THIS review is solemnly based on my OWN personal experience with this movie. Therefore, you might disagree with my opinions.

Now on with my review.

For starters, i have to admit while almost every single person i know was going crazy over Bohemian Rhapsody, i wasn't that excited for it. Perhaps because I'm not a big fan of Queen/Freddie Mercury. I only know a couple of their songs and that's it. But after hearing all the positive feedbacks i decided to give it a try.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound.

Well, i can't say im totally disappointed because i actually didn't have high hopes for it but i can say that im dissatisfied. You see, there is something missing in Bohemian Rhapsody. Musically speaking, this movie is flawless. Perfect. But when you think about it, it lacks depth. I personally couldn't connect with its story. And in my opinion, this is a big mistake because a movie about a legend this big should be perfect from all aspects. Not just one. No matter how much Queen's songs were beautiful and inspiring, they're not enough to make this movie a success.

Plus, even though i dont know alot about Freddie Mercury, im sure that this biopic didn't do him justice because it only highlighted some of his moments but in a very superficial way. It was like a simple history lesson, there wasn't any style or attitude to it.

But on the bright side, Rami Malek gave one electrifying performance. By far one of his best. This was the only reason why i gave this movie a 6.

The end scene was good but it came really late. We waited 2 hours for it and it was really short. So you can see why im dissatisfied.

I can wholeheartedly say that Bohemian Rhapsody won't go into my favorites list. But if you're a Queen fan im sure you're going to love it.

At the end, it turned out to be a soulless musical masterpiece.
