Knives Out

Brilliant, immersive and mind blowing!!! - 8.5/10

A detective and a trooper travel to a lush estate to interview the quirky relatives of a patriarch who died during his 85th birthday celebration.

Knives Out is probably one of my favorite movies of the year!! This admiration is mainly because of these reasons :

1- The Story: it was pretty clear, from the very beginning, that this film has one juicy and ambiguous story that will leave you in a complete state of loss and confusion!! From minute 1 till the very last, the level of complexity kept on rising until it reached a point where everything exploded into one big elaborate mess that im sure no one saw it coming!! Well no one but one!!

Despite being created in 2019, Knives Out's story follow the very well known who-done-it/detective story formula that always manages to capture the audience's attention and keep us invested till the very last second!!! This formula helped in creating an immersive story that moviegoers will find absolutely fascinating and rather exciting!!

2- The characters: okay for starters, this film has a big numbers of characters!! And this wasn't a problem but on the contrary it was pretty cool actually!! All characters, leads and secondary characters, were written with a dash of mystery, intelligence and humor. Each character managed to shine on its own, with his unique characteristics and personality.

3- The acting: this is seriously amazing!! As everyone knows, this film has a huge A-list cast starting from Mr Bond himself (Daniel Craig) to The Umbrella Academy' Jaeden Lieberher. And everyone was seriously in his element!! It's actually really fun seeing these veterans all coming together in this film, being all serious yet not taking themselves seriously!!

Ana De Armas, im impressed!! I literally wasn't expecting her to be this fascinating and this convincing! I LOVED HER PERFORMANCE.

Chris Evans as 'the bad guy', who thought he had it in him? Nevertheless, his performance was spot on!

Daniel Craig, well nothing but perfection was delivered from this English Star.

Toni Collette, Jamie Lee Curtis, Katherine Langford... and everyone else were really amazing and delivered really strong and convincing performances!!

I really loved how each performer managed to interpret his/her character is a unique and clever way!!

4-The cinematography, the camera work, the frames, each one of these told a story of its own!! It was pretty clear that alot of good work was put into this!!!

5-The atmosphere: as previously mentioned, from the beginning, everyone involved in this work, managed to create a very tight and charged atmosphere and its intensity just kept on doubling and tripling and quadrupling until the last moment!!

Ohhh and guess what?? I don't know if i already mentioned this, but this film is absolutely hilarious while still being super serious!!

Believe it or not but Knives Out might just be one of this year's biggest surprises because it's definitely one of the best!!
