Zombieland: Double Tap

Double the fun! - 8/10

by The Movie Inspector

A hilarious action comedy film, Zombieland: Double Tap is a whole lot of fun as it doubles the humor and the entertainment level! The great chemistry that the all-star cast share tremendously elevates every scene put on-screen.

It’s been 10 long years but they’re finally back and are here to take us on a whole new adventure across Z-Land. It easily manages to pick up after the events of the first movie and fill us in on what our characters have been up to and how they’ve evolved, along with how those zombies have evolved. From start to finish, it’s the nonstop fun and (self-aware) comedy that will certainly grasp your attention throughout a short yet adequate runtime. ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ follows Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock as they try to become a family and face off against more evolved zombies.

Survival has definitely gotten harder and Columbus’ list of rules has also gotten longer, but one thing that still remains the same is the level of entertainment that the four characters bring with such ease. They all share an undeniable chemistry that easily makes them so lovable and fun to watch. The addition of Zoey Deutch to the cast was a great one as her character was simply hilarious. The rest of the supporting cast that includes Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch prove to be welcome additions and have some great scenes. So there is no doubt that the acting played a huge role in the film’s overall performance.

The plot is simple and straightforward yet justifiable. Sure, it could’ve benefited from some extra depth here and there but that doesn’t stop it from remaining engaging at all times. I think what helps this movie and it’s predecessor to stand out are the well written characters and quirky humor that doesn’t really feel rehashed. Even if you’ve seen or heard something before, this movie manages to stylize that and make it its own. All in all, it’s a great movie thats action packed, has loads of laughs and is most definitely a crowd pleaser, so make sure to watch this one!
