Spider-Man: Far from Home

The ideal summer blockbuster! - 8/10

by The Movie Inspector

An enjoyable superhero flick, Spider-Man: Far From Home has everything fans could possibly wish for in terms of entertainment. A smoothly paced narrative paired with some great comedy end up creating the ideal summer blockbuster!

The sequel to 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ picks off after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and does a good job at showing viewers how Peter is holding up after his great loss. From the very beginning the movie makes it clear that it wishes to be a fun, fast and adventurous ride for the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ follows Peter Parker and his classmates as they embark on a vacation in Europe and face a threat that only Spider-Man could take on.

What really makes this movie so enjoyable is it’s ideal dose of heart and humor. This movie will have you laughing at so many of its well delivered jokes. Even the supporting characters delivered some great lines while sharing an undeniable chemistry with each other. The way all of them interacted with one another made it even funnier. Whether it’s Ned, MJ, Flash, Nick Fury or the teachers, they all have a role to play and always seem to hit the right note. I also believe that Peter & MJ shared some great chemistry in the film and I really like how their relationship is developing. You’ll genuinely care about both the characters and the unfolding plot.

The movie does a great job at maintaining a well pace despite having a rushed beginning. Spider-Man’s character development was clearly worked on and seeing him step up to the threats made him an even more compelling character. Of course, Tom Holland delivers yet another brilliant performance as spidey, and this time he’s joined by Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays Mysterio and is a great addition to the MCU. Now I do have some issues with his character but none that really affected the plot in a major way. I also have a minor issue with a certain revelation and how it was handled, a scene which kind of felt off. Nonetheless, Spider-Man: Far From Home is another great entry in the MCU that all fans should watch! (Don’t forget to stick around for the 2 post-credit scenes).
