A Unique Animated Experience - 7/10

It is not the usual “animated” film you go watch with your kids... this one is special and unique. “Checkered Ninja” was entertaining from start to finish, with great animation, suitable voice performances and many good messages to deliver through a cleverly written dialogue. I guess teenagers and adults will enjoy it the most, it has some adult jokes and themes that kids won’t really understand. The movie is self-aware and knew how to use its material in the right way without being vulgar or even clichee. The perfect word to describe the comedy used in this film would be: Clever. The jokes were suitable for the movie’s atmosphere and characters. Many of them made me really laugh because they were just reaching the limits without crossing them. The movie might be a bit confusing at the beginning with some mature content that we’re not used to in this genre, but it’s nothing close to movies like “Sausage Party” for example. Checkered Ninja is an enjoyable and unique animated film, I had really fun watching it.
