This movie is definitely better than Annabelle.
Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifacts room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room's evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple's 10-year-old daughter, her friends and their young baby sitter.
Annabelle Comes Home tries so hard to scare us but fails miserably as the audience was only truly frightened just one or two times throughout the entirety of the film.
Editing, Visual Effects and Cinematography were just a notch above average.
The acting wasn't that bad.
I really liked the screenplay and characters. Daniella had an actual motive and wasn't just an obnoxious nosy teenager. Judy wasn't a background supporting character anymore, we could see her evolve and notice her growth throughout the film.
Even though I know this isn't a Conjuring film, but I would have loved to see Ed and Lorraine Warren more throughout the film. I'm a sucker for Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's duo performance.
Something that caught my attention was the detail in sound. I could feel every emotion with every footstep, closed door, and knock that the director wanted me to feel.
The plot was interesting to say the least. The Conjuring Universe never ceases to amaze me at all the side plots integrated in a movie as they don't focus on one supernatural element or character, but each character has his own 5 minutes of fame.
Overall, this movie is definitely worth the watch. I am a sucker for James Wan and any Conjuring Universe film.
