The gang is back, Woody, Buzz lightyear and the rest embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody's slight detour leads him to his long lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo Peep discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they're worlds apart when it come to what they want from life as a toy.
As a huge fan of the Toy Story franchise, I have to say that Pixar truly never disappoints. After 9 long years, everyone's favorite animated movie, and mine as well, is back! And stronger than ever!!
Starting with this entry's story, I mean its exactly what you can expect from a Pixar movie, it was overflowing with inspiring life messages that both kids and adults can relate to. But what set this entry apart from the franchise's previous entries is that it tackled an issue we rarely see in animated movies.
Tell me do you know what makes us work, tick, function...? Once we accomplish the role we were born to do, what's left for us? This struggle to exist, to belong Somewhere or to someone was the focal point of the entire story. And of course numerous other topics/themes were explored such as friendship, family, existentialism, fear, hope, adventure....
To continue, we were introduced to a bunch of new characters, bad and good, but all with interesting and well written back stories. I, personally, didn't really find a villain in this movie, more like characters who made poor life choices or weren't as lucky as others. The antagonist, "Gaby Gaby", was written I believe to highlight the fact that everyone deserves love or deserves to belong Somewhere. If left alone for too long, we start to ravel in the darkness that loneliness brings upon us.
Theres also the hilarious duo Ducky and Bunny that highlights the importance of team work and friendship. Trust me you guys, these 2 will crack you up. Absolutely the best. And not to forget about Forky whom his stupidity and naivety will charm any living creature in the theater. And of course theres the original gang as well whom all returned to screen and just brought life to the movie.
In addition, the attention even to the smallest detail will surely blow your mind. The graphics, the colors, the drawings, everything was over the top. Simply perfect.
Generally speaking, Everything in Toy Story 4 felt to be in a completely whole new level. There's more humor, more drama and the entire atmosphere even though it was totally enjoyable and light, kinda felt dark and mysterious. Which totally amazed me.
Just leave everything you're doing and go watch it immediately!!!
