John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

This year’s best action movie. Shotgun! - 7.5/10

John wick parabellum is probably this year’s best action movie. Shotgun.

The film starts in medias res- basically continuing where chapter 2 left us on-  with John Wick running in the NYC streets. We gradually understand that he’s about to become excommunicado with a 14 million dollar bounty on his head as a start.

There was no significant plot to dive deep into, but the action scenes were so good that you’ll have to forget about the story itself.

What really was impressive, was how the film captivates you in every possible way during the action scenes. The film didn’t require much dialogue, but when something needed to be said, actions spoke louder than words- from exotic blades to guns.

The diversity that you can find in the fight scenes is unique; it’s not just a camera shaking that’s gonna make you feel dizzy by the end of the film... It’s all about creative techniques and ultimate professionalism from all the actors and stunts.

Keanu Reeves’s performance- and his stunt’s- was astonishing in terms of movements and fights but whenever it came to dialogue I just felt like it gave the flow of the movie a bitter taste.

By the end of the film, we could sense Reeves’s Lebanese roots emerging when he used his belt to whoop Zero’s ass.

Moving on, I would personally describe Halle Berry’s presence and role in this chapter as an entertaining add on rather than an essential one. I would’ve loved to see more of her character and the way Sofia and Wick’s relationship would evolve during the film. Guess we’ll have to wait for chapter 4!

Overall, it’s a pretty awesome movie that would’ve been a masterpiece if there was a meaningful story behind all the fights and the bloody route that is adopted throughout the series.
