Are You Glad I'm Here

A beautifully executed Drama - 7.5/10

by This Is My Review

I was really glad to watch a decent crime/drama full of powerful messages that will keep you emotionally invested in its story. “Are you glad I’m here?” grabbed my attention from the very first moment. Everything was beautifully executed and suitable for this genre. The script was the movie’s strongest element, characters were introduced and their motives were explained in a smooth way which allowed us to sympathize and eventually understand their actions. The dialogue felt real, they managed to discuss multiple social issues without spoon-feeding or making the scenes clichee, sometimes a simple phrase was able to deliver a strong and complicated message. Good performances especially Marwa Khalil, even the English accent she used was suitable for the role. A promising directorial debut for Noor Gharzeddine, she knew how to present a meaningful story in her own way. My main issue was the first act’s runtime, it was a bit too long and repetitive at some point, but overall it didn’t ruin my experience. “Are You Glad I’m Here” is a great movie not to be missed.
