Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile

A disappointing true story - 5.5/10

Just like its title.... the movie feels really long. “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” had a good story to tell, but it was poorly executed. Ted Bundy’s story is really interesting, I’m curious to watch the Documentary (also Directed Joe Berlinger) although the movie felt really weak. They were trying to manipulate our emotions towards the main character but it failed because everything was obvious from the very first start. They wasted the movie’s runtime trying to create this feeling instead of focusing on Ted’s personality so we can build a connection with him. I couldn’t feel any sympathy towards him because I was confused by the way they chose to portray him. On the other hand Zac Efron’s performance was a positive element in the movie, he was convincing considering the fact that this role is far from what he usually portrays. Lily Collins was good, her character transformation was remarkable. They could’ve easily reduced 20 minutes from the movie’s runtime, many scenes felt prolonged and unnecessary. It’s an interesting movie to watch if you’re a fan of this genre... but it’s definitely not the best.
