Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

A not so spooky Halloween feature. - 5.5/10

Goosebumps 2 is a not so spooky Halloween feature.

Slappy is back and this time he is hoping to start his own family by kidnapping Sonny's, a young kid's, mother and brings all of his ghoulish friends back to life - - just in time for Halloween. As the sleepy town becomes overrun with monsters and witches, Sonny joins forces with his sister and best friend to save his mom and foil Slappy's plan.

The second installment of the Goosebumps series failed at being more than mediocre. Even though Goosebumps 2 is slightly better than the first one, it still contained tons of flaws.

Personally, i think the entire movie needed more details and spookiness. It just feels like everything is happening so fast that you don't get the chance to stop and actually enjoy it. I think Ari Sandel had alot to say in a very short period, so he just threw everything on top of each other and unwillingly created one big mess.

The storyline is so cliché, a villain gone bad, brings mayhem, and 2 or 3 kids must save their town from an inevitable destruction. Khalas, enough with this story, we've already seen it a million (and i do mean a million) times before. It feels like there's no creativity left in the world. Plus where are all the creatures and monsters? I know the main target of this movie is kids but that doesn't mean it has to be totally children oriented.

The special effects were very bad, they looked really fake and everything felt choreographed and planned. This movie's main problem is that it took itself way to seriously.

But to be totally honest, i liked the final scene even though it needed more power and drama. Plus, Slappy is just the cutest villain out there, but i dont think the younger audience will be too pleased with him.

Because i didn't have high hopes for this movie, i wasn't totally disappointed but one question was stuck in my head : where are all the scares? The demonic and sinister creatures? The frightening vibes ..?

This is a Halloween movie after all right?
