After

Another Predictable Romantic Story - 4/10

by This Is My Review

Romantic movies are being similar nowadays, trying to repeat the same formula witout taking any risks. My main issue with “After” is the story, it brings NOTHING new to the genre, it was so predictable and clichee. Romantic movies tend to add elements to the story to make it unique (The Fault in Our Stars added sickness....), this one didn’t even bother. I know that they had to follow the original Novel, but why would you adapt such a “clichee” story? I didn’t read the original Novel, it might be more interesting but unfortunately the movie was weak. Hero Fiennes Tiffin’s (the main actor) performance wasn’t convincing at all, I don’t know why they would cast him if he didn’t fit the role. His performance ruined the chemistry with the main actress that could’ve been a positive element for this film. Fans of this genre, or maybe people who actually read the book might enjoy “After”.
