A Star Is Born is a cinematic phenomenon that occurs once in a lifetime. And you can quote me on that.
Seasoned musician Jackson Maine (played by the wonderful Bradley Cooper) discovers, and falls in love with, struggling artist Ally (played by the astonishing Lady Gaga). But as Ally's career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
Let me start by saying that this movie managed to surpass my wildest expectations. Bradley Cooper might just have created a musical masterpiece. It's pure and complicated but most of all it is raw. The contrast between the 2 main leads storyline is really impressive. The overall story was well written and detailed. Very good job to both Cooper and Roth for they did an impeccable work with the screenplay.
In general, i was very touched by the leads sincere performance but what really touched me in particular was Lady Gaga's phenomenal execution of her role. I think she just proved to be the ultimate threat : an impressive voice and captivating acting skills. She totally blew my mind away, i never thought she had it in her. Gaga and Cooper are a match made in movies heaven.
I loved how A Star Is Born showcased the dark side of being famous and under the radar (substance abuse, alcoholism ..) and its deadly consequences.
The soundtracks were so emotional and addictive and they took the movie to a whole new level (where, in my opinion, no musical has ever gone before), so you might shed a tear especially during the finale's song.
The only thing that prevented me from giving it a perfect 10 is that its way longer than it should be. Some scenes were absolutely unnecessary.
Personally, i found the movie a masterpiece and im 100% sure that you will too. A Star Is Born definitely wont be a stanger to this year's award season.
One of this year's best motion picture. I highly recommend you guys to go and watch it.
