Dumbo

Burton’s beautiful comeback - 8.5/10

by This Is My Review

Welcome back Tim Burton.... you’ve been missed. This might be the best way to remake a “Dumbo” film. This version is longer, more detailed and way different than the original, and that’s how a remake should be done in my opinion. I don’t want to see THE SAME movie with the same plot and details, some elements need to be added/changed in order to give it a new spirit and purpose. Burton does things differently as usual, the 1941 film was 1h 4min long, it didn’t have subplots so they re-imagened the whole story and presented it in a different form. The use of homages and references was very clever, every element of the original film was presented but not in a clichee or predictable way. CGI was really good especially Dumbo and his mom. I had mixed feelings towards the acting especially Colin Farell, he wasn’t really convincing. Danny Devito was just amazing and Michael Keaton did a great job too. DUMBO is one of the good live-action remakes for Disney.... simply because the director had something “new” to present.
