A disappointing horror film - 6/10

I was excited to see what Jordan Peele can present after his first horror “Get Out”.... unfortunately this one was disappointing. “Us” was trying to deliver a good message, it can be interpreted in different ways. The movie had “something” to say so hats-off to Peele for choosing this theme. Let’s put that aside and discuss the other elements: The movie’s tone was just confusing and sometimes annoying, that was my biggest issue. The way they were dealing with the situation, their choices and their dialogues were illogical, I was confused whether I should be laughing or caring. Comedy was really bad, misplaced and lame. It ruined the whole atmosphere, at some point I was asking myself if I was really watching a horror film. Lupita Nyongo’s performance was amazing, it might be the movie’s strongest element. The ending had one interesting twist that I found exciting and added more value to the story. “Us” was a major disappointment, fans of the genre might enjoy it.... but I didn’t.
