Damascus... Aleppo - دمشق... حلب

A beautiful mix - 7/10

When you deliver a message through comedy, it becomes more powerful.... Damascus Aleppo is a perfect example. The movie purposely mixed comedy and Drama in multiple scenes, to present the recent situation in Arabic countries, where you don’t know whether you should be smiling or crying. Duraid Laham was stunning, his charisma can control the screen even if he’s silent. His character faced many emotional changes throughout the film, and Laham was able to portray every single one of them perfectly, even if the transition between them was fast. Some of the characters felt a bit weak, even with a well-presented background. I preferred the “funny aspect” of the film because it was more successful in delivering the movie’s messages while the Drama was a bit overdone, this might be the movie’s biggest flaw. If you’re a fan of this genre you will definitely enjoy Damascus Aleppo.
