Dumplin'

I don't know if you guys noticed but lately I've been trying to focus mainly on the positive aspects of each movie i review and of course Dumplin' won't be an exception.
This movie follows Willowdean/Dumplin, the plus size teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, who signs up for her mom's Miss Teen Bluebonnet Pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the Pageant and their small Texas town.
Who would have thought that a movie with a cheesy title like 'Dumplin' would have this impact on me? I'm in total awe because of its inspiring and uplifting message about body image and self acceptance.
Nowadays, and because of social media's toxic habits, teens are under pressure to conform/transform into what's considered to be the new accepted status Coe, resulting in an unhealthy self-image, depression, aggression and several other serious mental health issues. Beauty is relative, you DON'T have to be anyone but yourself because you ARE beautiful and you ARE enough!! All you need is a little bit of DUMPLIN'.
In addition to having this electrifying life message, Dumplin' contained some inspirational characters that the everyday average girl next door could relate to, all fabulously portrayed by some incredible talent that needs to be more recognized such as Danielle Macdonald, Bex Taylor-Klaus and Maddie Baillio. And not to forget the amazing Jennifer Aniston who was totally in her element.
The only thing that prevented me from giving this movie a perfect score is the pace, which was at some points deathly slow! So if you're looking for a fast paced, energetic movie. This isn't the one. You see Dumplin is the kind of movies that has the ability to make you cry and laugh at the same time, partially because of its genuine script that mimics the ordinary life of a plus size teen (with a twist). At the end, Dumplin' is a heartwarming drama musical with an inspiring life message.
