Happy Death Day 2U

A slasher sequel that's both funny and clever. - 6.5/10

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Happy Death Day 2U is a slasher sequel you don't want to miss.

This sequel centers around Tree Gelbman, whom finds herself once again the target of a masked killer. When a psychopath starts to go after her inner circle, Tree soon realizes that she must die over and over again to save everyone.

When you have a funny blockbuster first part, what do you do? You take the exact same story while adding a few twists and turns and Bamm, now you have an even funnier and more clever sequel. I know what you're thinking, this is a really dumb move from Landon's part and that this movie is bound to fail. Why not just create a whole new experience with a fresh story? I can honestly say that this is in fact, one of the best moves Landon could've made.

The case of Happy Death Day 2U is that its exactly the same as part one, same wardrobe, same sets, same time frame, same background characters and Yes the same story but what's different about this sequel is that this time the origin/cause of the time loop is uncovered with Tree being equipped with all the knowledge of the first go-around while of course having some genius plot twists.

Christopher Landon's sequel is extremely hilarious and this time everything was amplified to say the least, the jokes are funnier and the violence sequences were much better choreographed and performed. But what's remarkable is that this movie is a lot more emotional than its predecessor. And that great ending is a definite crowd-pleaser with a hint of a new Happy Death Day movie coming soon.

But to be totally honest, while this is a fresh and memorable entry in the slasher genre, Happy Death Day 2U feels, a tiny bit, tacky. Like i said earlier, every little aspect about this sequel is really good but i think the editing wasn't on the same level as everything else and totally prevented from creating an all-in-all perfect vibe.

At the end, Happy Death Day 2U is a fun ride you absolutely and definitely dont want to miss.
