Cold Pursuit

An overused revenge story with kick-ass action. - 6/10

Liam Neeson is back and he's in his element!

This movie centers around Nels Coxman's quiet life as a snowplow driver that comes crashing down when his beloved son dies under mysterious circumstances. His search for the truth soon becomes a quest for revenge against a psychotic drug dealer and his sleazy henchmen.

If you're a fan of Liam Neeson than you'll absolutely love Cold Pursuit. But to be totally honest, this movie totally surprised me and not in a good way.

The number of flaws was really hard to neglect. Starting from the extremely shallow script. Cold Pursuit's writers, I believe, were trying to make this movie as serious as possible while still being relatable. Well guess what? It totally backfired because the script felt like it belonged to a parody video instead of an action-packed blockbuster wannabe.

To continue, this movie contained way too many subplots that were overwhelming, to say the least. A lot was happening at the same time without having enough time to process it all. What a bad move! Make something unique and don't just count on Neeson's kick-ass action skills.

Plus the characters were underdeveloped, especially the antagonist. This guy was seriously weak, sloppy and wasn't a match to Neeson's character. It needed much more work!

But on the bright side, this dark comedy, even though sometimes was a bit exaggerated, was somehow funny. In fact, this is far from being Liam Neeson's best role yet he still killed it and absolutely dominated the screen to a point where everyone else looked like amateurs. I admit the overall body count and kills was way overwhelming but i mean its a Liam Neeson's movie for God's sake and it shouldn't have been any different. His violent performance was so amusing to watch. Just like all the different locations and sets  that were simply breathtaking.

At the end, Cold Pursuit is just another entry in the overused revenge genre that failed to live up to my expectations.
