Cold War

Simple filmmaking yet incredible! - 9/10

by Yousef Blog

Love between two individuals of different backgrounds in a tough time. What was great about the film wasn't its screenplay neither its acting, although Joanna Kulig gave us one of the best performances of the year.

What was great about Cold War is the reminder of the simplicity behind filmmaking, yes I'm not a big fan of black and white films, yes the film was short but it did succeed in reminding us of how simple it is to make movies.

A exceptional and original screenplay and I think a rare one especially these days. Love in a communist regime between Joanna Kulig “Zula” and Tomasz Kot “Wiktor”. Not your typical love story.

We are shown of how a love relationship between people were like at that time, not quite the struggles you're used to in most romance films as it's political in this film.

What Cold War gave us again is the simplicity for me, good screenplay, simple directing and Joanna Kulig great performance.
