Stan & Ollie "Laurel & Hardy"

The Funniest Duo - 7.5/10

by This Is My Review

The untold true story of two great comedians: Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The movie skipped a big part of their lives to focus on one important phase. The story’s setup wasn’t the strongest element in this film, it felt a bit lost. Performances were flawless: John C. Reilly was a copy of Oliver Hardy, plus he was able to give his character depth. Steve Coogan was very good, especially in one specific scene (the confrontation between Laurel and Hardy) that I’ll be remembering for a long time. After that famous scene, the movie got better, it had a specific aim and gave us the right emotions to sympathize with our characters. The chemistry between both actors was strong, you feel like these two worked together for years. The script was smart in comedy, some jokes were really funny but others felt misplaced. It’s a great movie and a beautiful tribute to Comedy Legends “Laurel and Hardy”.
