Bumblebee

An epic and memorable adventure film! - 8/10

by The Movie Inspector

An epic adventure film, Bumblebee does a splendid job at developing an intriguing and heartwarming story. It perfectly balances action and comedy, leaving viewers with a memorable experience that no other transformers film could ever achieve.

Well I surely did not expect that from a ‘Transformers’ film, especially considering that the past four franchise entries lacked out on almost all levels. However, this movie changes all of that, proving that with the right creative team even the transformers can have worthwhile movies. ‘Bumblebee’ is set in 1987 and follows Bumblebee’s arrival to earth and the bond he creates with a teenage girl named Charlie, while facing a threat that could wipe out all remaining autobots.

The movie is a prequel to the Transformers franchise and is without a doubt the best film to date simply due to its delicate narrative. What this movie has is lovable characters, a well driven plot and stunning visuals. The chemistry shared between Bumblebee and Charlie is so fitting that it elevated the movie and provided it with loads of heart! Charlie’s character alone has more depth than any previous character in a transformers film. The movie is full of humorous moments that are perfectly in place. In fact the story never loses focus as everything feels connected and justified.

Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena give out great performances. Director Travis Knight brings life and energy to this movie and allows it take over so smoothly. Last but not least the 80’s soundtrack was just an amazing addition as it added a lot to each scene and made its setting all the more believable. Plus there are some cool 80’s pop culture references that many fans will enjoy. It’s a definite crowd pleaser that highlights friendship and loyalty as core themes. So, make sure to watch the movie as soon as possible and let me know what you think!
