Blue Night (Here and Now)

One big failure. - 4/10

Raw, sincere and heartwarming.

After receiving a grim diagnosis, a successful New York singer spends the day reflecting on her life. She crisscrosses the city as she attempts to make peace with her friends, family and failures.

Don't let the 3 first words of my review fool you for i was only describing Sarah Jessica Parker's performance. While it wasn't as intense as i hoped it would be, it still was really touching and somewhere between fine and good.

But unfortunately, one good actress was not enough to elevate this movie from the depth of cinematic failures.

For starters, the storyline felt very void and empty. While Fabien Constant's main intentions were to create something that the audience will remember long after the ending credits, he - perhaps unwillingly - created a one-dimensional story that failed to keep me awake (yes, i actually fell asleep!) and interested.

To continue, the pace was extremely slow. Again, i think Constant was trying to show us the details and struggles of such news and how they affect our lives. While his heart was probably in the right place, this move only made the movie more dull.

Plus, this movie, in general feels very superficial. It wasn't challenging or dramatic enough. And there wasn't any twists or interesting plot changes. Even the ending was extremely predictable and safe. And not to forget about the visuals, it looks like an 8 years old shot this entire movie.

Please Fabien, next time stick to documentaries. This isn't your genre (drama...).

Blue Sky / Here And Now is just a one big failure and will for sure go down as one of my worst cinematic experiences.
