A rhythmless sequel that somehow seems to work.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald's plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided world.

This new entry in the Wizarding world saga is brutally overwhelming. Yet i dont seem to mind it and im sure my fellow potterheads will agree with me. But dare i say I'm a tiny bit disappointed? While i was waiting for something extremely powerful and jaw dropping, i ended up with a story more focused on future films rather than the one happening right now. Don't get me wrong, the crimes of grindelwald is still one of this year's best movies, i really love the change of tone and how it's darker than any of the HP/FB movies before and i also love that the story contained tons of subplots within subplots. This only made it more interesting.

To continue, i wasn't very pleased with the overwhelming amount of characters, alot of them weren't properly presented and were kinda left in the dark. But i have to Salute J.K Rowling for exposing Nagini's true nature, the side we never knew she had. Nagini, in my opinion, is one of the most intriguing characters in the franchise and my personal favorite. In past movies we've seen her as a villain, a horcrux but now we were able to witness her as a vulnerable woman who was forced (by a blood curse) to transform into the beast we all know and some love.

As for the cast, Johnny Depp is truly a remarkable addition. He really knew how to portray his character and its like it was made especially for him. Jude law was amazing as young Dumbledore, i really love his take on this character and how he's making it unique and relatively new. Eddie Redmayne and Claudia Kim were also really great.

The special effects and costumes were mind blowing. Absolutely magical and fascinating. I never knew that Hogwarts robes used to be blue.

In the end, even though this movie had its share of flaws, it's still spellbinding and magnificent.

Totally recommend it.
